On Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1976, The Band played their final farewell concert, called "The Last Waltz," and the performance saw the band joined by more than a dozen special guests, including their previous employers Ronnie Hawkins and Bob Dylan, as well as Paul Butterfield, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Wood, and Neil Young.
The monumental musical event was filmed by director Martin Scorsese and made into a documentary of the same title, released in 1978, and ultimately considered one of the greatest documentary films of all time.

Jaspar Lepak writes feminist folk songs from the heart—poetic, profound and “always evocative” (Mostly Minnesota). Drawing comparisons to Kate Wolf and Nanci Griffith, her pure voice rings out above the pack, creating classic-sounding folk songs inspired by the many places she has called home (Tucson, Durban, Seattle, and Minneapolis). Her 2024 album So Strong landed at #6 on the Folk Radio Chart and perfectly weaves the personal with the political. Inspired by the overturning of Roe, the loss of her childhood friend to cancer and her own experiences with pregnancy, childbirth and caregiving, the songs are bravely honest, deep, sweet, and even playful at times.
“So Strong is comforting and charmingly unpretentious.” - The Current
Kashimana is a mother, musician, vocalist, composer, producer and teaching artist with a rich soulful blues voice that soars through their original compositions. The name Kashimana means 'that's their heart' and you can hear Kashimana’s heart beating in the compelling sound of their music which is an exploration of Soul, R&B, Folk, Afro-funk and more. Kashimana often draws from their Nigerian heritage and experiences growing up in Nigeria and Kenya and living in the United States. Her latest release, Phantom Cries, captures the pivot point of Kashimana's musical artistry and journey into mamahood. The album is an emotional rollercoaster of songs guaranteed to give you goosebumps and invoke reflection and transformation.
